Interesting book takes place in an immigrant community in Scotland where an Asian family’s home is invaded by hoodlums who demand £2 million, shoot the hand of a daughter and then kidnap the dad. The police suspect one of the sons but newcomer to the force, Alex Morrow, isn’t so sure, she lives in the community, understands it better.
The story goes back and forth between the family, the cops and the screw-ups who committed the stupidity. It looks like the son was part of it – his situation is certainly shaky. There’s plenty of drugs and gritty life involved but Mina sticks to a generally traditional albeit darkish, format.
